PISTONS TAKE ANOTHER UNIMPRESSIVE GAME AGAINST THE CAVS!
I was going to write about the Detroit Pistons Game Two victory over the Cleveland Cavs last night, but ultimately fell asleep while watching a great South Park episode in which Mr. Garrison gets a nose job. I didn’t see Game Two, but after reading several game stories could tell that the Pistons just got by once again. Detroit fell behind 50-38 at halftime (they were down six at the half of Game One) before having a solid third quarter and getting back into the game. Rasheed Wallace followed a similar script from Game One. After a quiet performance on the offensive end through the first three quarters, Wallace scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter and gave the Pistons the lead with under 30 seconds to go with a baseline fadeaway over Lebron James, who had a chance to win it for Cleveland. Instead of passing out to the open shooter as he did in a similar situation in Game One, James went for the win last night and missed a contested shot. Detroit finished with a 79-76 victory, the same score as in Game One.
While the Pistons will lose Game Three in Cleveland, they’ll take this series in six games. However, Detroit has not played a very good game since Game Two against the Chicago Bulls. While the Pistons were able to get past Chicago and will get past Cleveland with such efforts, they’re setting themselves up for some big trouble against the Spurs in the NBA Finals. While I want to see Detroit get some revenge against San Antonio for 2005, I don’t see it happening unless the team picks up its play.
