Blake Griffin NBA Draft Lottery Tonight

Fourteen teams will participate in the 2009 NBA Draft Lottery tonight with the goal of striking gold and landing the number-one overall pick, expected to be Oklahoma’s Blake Griffin.
Other players figured to go at the top of the 2009 NBA Draft include Spain’s Ricky Rubio, UCONN’s Hasheem Thabeet, Arizona’s Jordan Hill and Arizona State’s James Harden.
Here are the probabilities for landing the top pick tonight.
- 1. Sacramento Kings (17-65): 25 percent;
- 2. Washington Wizards (19-63): 17.80 percent;
- 3. L.A. Clippers (19-63): 17.70 percent;
- 4. Oklahoma City Thunder (23-59): 11.90 percent;
- 5. Minnesota Timberwolves (24-58): 7.60 percent;
- 6. Memphis Grizzlies (24-58): 7.50 percent;
- 7. Golden State Warriors (29-53): 4.30 percent;
- 8. New York Knicks (32-50): 2.80 percent;
- 9. Toronto Raptors (33-49): 1.70 percent;
- 10. Milwaukee Bucks (34-48): 1 percent;
- 11. New Jersey Nets (34-48): 0.90 percent;
- 12. Charlotte Bobcats (35-47): 0.70 percent;
- 13. Indiana Pacers (36-46): 0.60 percent; and
- 14. Phoenix Suns (46-36): 0.50 percent.
Only eight teams with less than a 10 percent chance to win the draft lottery have done so in NBA history.
Here’s a recap of some of the biggest shockers to win the lottery in the past.
1. Orlando Magic win 1993 NBA Draft Lottery despite 1.5 percent chance.
2. Chicago Bulls win 2008 NBA Draft Lottery despite 1.7 percent chance.
3. New Jersey Nets win 2000 NBA Draft Lottery despite 4.4 percent chance.
4. Portland Trail Blazers win 2007 NBA Draft Lottery despite 5.3 percent chance.
5. Milwaukee Bucks win 2005 NBA Draft Lottery despite 6.3 percent chance.
6. Toronto Raptors win 2006 NBA Draft Lottery despite 8.8 percent chance.
7. Houston Rockets win 2002 NBA Draft Lottery despite 8.9 percent chance (no video available).
8. Golden State Warriors win 1995 NBA Draft Lottery despite 9.4 percent chance.

1993: Orlando Magic select Michigan’s Chris Webber & trade him to Golden State for rights to Penny Hardaway.
2008: Chicago Bulls select Memphis’ Derrick Rose.

Ten teams have less than a 10 percent chance to win the lottery tonight.
