Ben Gordon Former Chicago Bull Ben Gordon Ben Gordon Need a couple of reasons to be even more skeptical of Bulls “General Manager” Gar Foreman and the organization as a whole beyond letting Ben Gordon walk to the division rival Detroit Pistons yesterday without even offering him a contract?

Here you go.

1. Foreman was full of it, the mouthpiece for an organization full of it.

After taking over for John Paxson in May, Foreman has repeatedly said that keeping Gordon was the top priority this summer. Well, apparently, that was a bunch of Bull.

According to Gordon this morning, the Bulls didn’t even make him a contract offer. While saying that he had no bitterness towards the Bulls, Gordon added that the writing was on the wall the last couple of seasons. Can’t disagree with that. For some reason, the Bulls never viewed Gordon in the same light as Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng or even Andres Nocioni. According to some reports, the Bulls didn’t even talk to Gordon since the end of the season.

Sure, Gordon did not give the Bulls a chance to make a counter offer yesterday. But the Bulls did not have much to negotiate with, as everyone knows they wouldn’t go into the luxury tax to keep Gordon. With barely $7 million (if that) to offer Gordon, the Bulls could have been more aggressive around the draft last week in looking to move Hinrich and/or Tyrus Thomas to help free up some money for BG.

Once again, this is another case of the Bulls sitting around, doing nothing and hoping for something to just fall into place, which has been an all too familiar theme of the once promising but recently very disappointing John Paxson era.

You know where that attitude has left us?

With overpaid players like Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich, an inexperienced and inept Head Coach in Vinny Del Negro, and still no scoring big man to speak of.

Whether you care less about Gordon leaving, you should care that Foreman and Bulls management are saying one thing and doing the other. Kind of sounds like Mayor Daley and the Olympic bid, now doesn’t it?

2. Foreman had a major role in the negotiations that led to the re-signing of Luol Deng.

Maybe it was time for Gordon to go. With that said, how are the Bulls better off without Gordon and with the ridiculous contract of the soft, injured enigma that is Deng? Gordon would have at least justified a nice contract. Deng hasn’t done anything in two seasons, but continues to skate free while a player with actual heart is now in Motown.

Is anyone else tired of hearing about Gordon’s liabilities while the even bigger question mark Deng continues to steal money as he sits on the pine injured and dressed in a nice suit? When is this clown going to get called out as Gordon unjustifiably did more than anyone else? It’s bad enough we’re stuck with him for years to come.

What’s even worse? Gordon tried to sign the Bulls offer late last summer, but the Bulls pulled it off the table.

Chicago could have had Gordon for a respectable $9 million a season if they didn’t hold grudges.

3. Foreman is just another loyal foot soldier of Jerry Reinsdorf, the real reason Gordon is gone.

The fact that Foreman worked his way up through the organization and is liked by Owner Jerry Reinsdorf indicates that he is the type of employee the Bulls have always loved: a modest individual who is not that impressive on the surface but is loyal to who he needs to be at whatever costs, Mr. Reinsdorf.

There’s something about the Bulls organization that makes you sick. The greats like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Phil Jackson have nothing to do with the organization and Norm Van Lier got frequently dissed by the Bulls because he uncomfortably told the truth while stars of the pine tar like Pete Myers, Bill Wennington, Stacey King and now Randy Brown have jobs with the team.

Make no mistakes about Gordon leaving. He wasn’t Reinsdorf’s type of player (in other words, he wasn’t Hinrich or Deng).

I guess a guy who works his ass off, produces on the court, takes and makes big shots, is never hurt, and represents the franchise with class off the court isn’t what Reinsdorf is looking for.

But overvalued and overrated players who have already peaked are.

4.  Foreman followed Tim Floyd.

Foreman came to the Bulls with the ill-suited Floyd from Iowa State 11 years ago. Floyd was an embarrassment as a Head Coach (though he had no talent to work with). Just a couple of weeks ago, Floyd resigned from USC amidst allegations of paying a handler of O.J. Mayo. In simple terms, Floyd is an unethical, dirty crook.

Foreman is apparently still a close confidant of Floyd, as last week’s second first-round selection, Taj Gibson (a reach), would seemingly indicate.

5. Foreman came heavily endorsed by Jerry Krause.

After Foreman was announced as the new Bulls GM in May, the hated Krause talked about how he was one of his best hires with the Bulls. That’s scary. If you’re Jerry Krause’s type of guy, I’m highly worried. Krause was the meddling, fat man whom Jordan, Pippen and Jackson won in spite of, especially his arrogant attitude and “organizations, not players, win championship” credo.

With all this said, does anyone else find it funny that the Bulls haven’t even had any public comments about Gordon leaving?

Sure, they’ll say that Gordon’s announcement can’t be made official until July 8, but that would just be an excuse to hide behind, now wouldn’t it?

Of course, it would.

Also, the Bulls are allegedly committed to defense again, a reason why Gordon is gone.

Bull crap.

Didn’t anyone see this team defend last year under Del Negro and his poor man’s version of D’Antoni ball?

This is what I call believing what you need to believe.

All I have left to say is that the Pistons may not be a playoff team with Ben Gordon next year.

But I don’t think the Bulls will be one either without him next year.

I’m still waiting for someone to take the Bulls and Deng to task rather than throwing out the same old argument about Gordon the one-dimensional player.
