Yesterday, Hoops 4 the Soul examined the three players in NBA history to win three consecutive league MVP awards.
Despite winning his sixth and final NBA MVP award 29 years ago today, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar never won three-straight MVPs in his career like Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell each did.
Still, Abdul-Jabbar’s six MVP awards are the most in NBA history.
Here’s a look at the six MVP seasons produced by Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with 38,387 points.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (formerly known as Lew Alcindor)

What’s a bit surprising, Abdul-Jabbar won his six NBA MVPs in the first 11 years of his career.
He would not win another league MVP in his final nine seasons.
His last league MVP in 1980 occurred when he was 32 years old.
His last NBA Finals MVP in 1985 was awarded when he was 37 years old.
His last NBA Finals game (and final game of his career) took place in 1989 when he was 41 years old.
With all that said, here’s a nice celebration of Abdul-Jabbar’s amazing career.
