With that honor for the 1985-1986 season, Bird became only the third player in NBA history to win three straight league MVP awards.

Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain are the only other two players to have won three straight NBA MVP awards.

Three Straight MVP Awards: 1966, 1967 & 1968 with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Interestingly enough, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar never won three straight MVP awards despite winning a record six MVPs in his career.

Michael Jordan, whose five MVPs are tied for second with Russell, won two straight MVP awards in 1991 and 1992 but never three straight.
