5-26-1997: Mourning Delivers Win, Angers God

After falling into an 0-3 hole to the Chicago Bulls in the 1997 Eastern Conference Finals, Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning guaranteed that his team would win Game Four of the series. Well, Mourning would help deliver a Game Four victory by supplementing Tim Hardaway’s 25-point effort with 18 points and 14 rebounds on Memorial Day 12 years ago. However, Mourning would also commit a fatal mistake: pissing off Michael Jordan after throwing a nasty elbow to the forehead of Scottie Pippen. 5-26-1995: Pacers Get Revenge on Knicks

After blowing a 3-2 series lead and losing in seven games to the New York Knicks in the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals, the Indiana Pacers got the revenge they were looking for 14 years ago today. In another Game Seven at Madison Square Garden, the Pacers found themselves on the winning side of the ledger and the 1995 Eastern Conference series between the teams when Patrick Ewing missed a finger-roll layup that would have tied the game and sent it to overtime.
