Chicago Bulls Season Grades: Luol Deng
Filed Under Analysis/Commentary, NBA, Chicago Bulls | Leave a Comment
Remember him? We better as Deng is locked up for five more seasons after signing a curious 6-year, $71 million deal last summer. After coming off a very disappointing 2007-2008 season in which his contract issues seemed to affect his play and psyche on the court, Deng followed up with another frustrating season that prompted even more questions than answers about his game, durability and mental toughness. After taking a while to get going offensively, Deng seemed to have found some consistency before being injured for the rest of the season with an anterior right tibial stress fracture. In the end, it turned out to be another underwhelming, injury-plagued season for the disappointing Deng, whose huge contract is a serious impediment to Chicago’s efforts of resigning the unappreciated Ben Gordon.

5-8-1970: What You Talking about Willis?
Filed Under On This Day . . ., Loose Balls | Leave a Comment
Would he or wouldn’t he? That was the question being asked of New York Knicks’ center Willis Reed prior to Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals. Decimated by a knee injury that took him out of Game Five and caused him to miss Game Six of the classic championship series against the Los Angeles Lakers, Reed would give the Knicks an early jolt by hobbling his way out to the warm ups and scoring New York’s first four points. New York would lead by 24 at halftime and go on to win its first NBA championship, and Reed would forever be immortalized for his heroics.
